We have some very exciting news to share!
Adirondack Weddings is slated to win an Eddie Award, which is one of the highest honors in magazine publishing. Folio’s Eddie Awards, as the official website notes, are known as “the most sought-after recognition in the industry, a high-profile affirmation of editorial excellence.” Our debut issue has placed top three in the “full issue – annual” category, beating out an untold number of national consumer magazines that release annual supplemental editions. The category is one of the most prestigious, since it recognizes the strength of the complete issue, as opposed to a single article.
Magazines that have finaled across other categories include Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Esquire, Forbes, Travel + Leisure, and Scientific American.
We are thrilled and humbled, especially because bridal magazines have not historically received this type of recognition. With this honor, we have joined the ranks of Martha Stewart Weddings, which won a National Magazine Award (an “Ellie”) back in 2005.
We will receive either a bronze, silver, or gold Eddie at an awards gala at the Marriott Marquis in New York City on October 31. The room will be packed with publishing elite from companies such as Conde Nast, Hearst, and Time Inc. We are up against supplements from two nationally-distributed magazines: Southern Living (perhaps ironically, their wedding issue) and Mother Earth News (a guide to green cars).
For more information, check out the official awards website, as well as the pdf of all the finalists. We’re listed on the final page.
For now, though, it’s back to work on our third issue!
